I've been pretty busy recently.
I made Buttermilk Beignets the other day! They were so tasty, and if you think about it basically doughnuts. That doesn't matter though! If I made these again, I would add some chocolate or fruit to it to add a little something that was missing in flavor.
Books I've Read:
Dream New Dreams by Jai Pausch. She is the wife of Randy Pausch, who wrote the book The Last Lecture, and gave a presentation called The Last Lecture. I read his book and loved it and his story. This book gave me her side of the story, the side where if I were in her situation would probably see through her eyes. It is an emotional book, but I was grateful that I now have a better understanding of Cancer and the effects that it has on people.
Blog, Inc. by Joy Deangdeelert Cho. If you have a blog, I recommend that you read it. It is so helpful with just about everything that you might need assistance with. I loved it and will probably end up buying it.
A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway, and I'm shocked that I loved it so much. I had these ideas that Ernest Hemingway wasn't the best person, which led me to be skeptical about reading his books. Then I was at the library with nothing to read or check out and saw the book and started reading it. I love that it is easy to read, and that I still feel like I can take as long as I want and it will still be glorious. I think why I love it so much is because he doesn't draw himself as a terrible person, though he admits his faults. In this book he also often speaks of his first wife Hadley, and they were so cute together and you get the idea that even though they were poor they were happy because they had each other, I'm just sad that their relationship ended.
Small and Simple Things by Marjorie Pay Hinckley. I love this book, it shows her sweet disposition and even her humor. One thing that really stuck out to me was what she said on pg. 19. " I think I have started the Book of Mormon a few more times than I have finished it!" Then she went on to quote someone anonymous "Stick to a task, 'Til it sticks to you. Beginners are many, Finishers are few." I love that quote because I have struggled for a long time to trying and not finishing the Book of Mormon. Overall I love this book, and love that is such an easy read.
I've started a Gratitude Journal. I've heard all of the good things that come from them, and thought that I should start and reap the benefits! So far so good. I've started out writing three things that I am grateful for, and I'm debating on wether or not I should just write everything that I can think of that day instead of narrowing it down to three. I really think that that would be a good idea.
Who could my new favorite singer be since James Bay? Andy Burrows, thats who, especially his song As Good As Gone. Again, I'll admit that my style of music isn't so normal. That's okay though, right?!
The other day after having my doctors appointment and practically being told that I might have bronchitis, I went to target. In which I bought my adorable gratitude journal and probably the best scarf that ever existed! This scarf is filled with all of my favorite colors; think PEACOCK! Peacocks might be my favorite bird because (at least the male) are so stunning and magnificently colored. So if you're thinking that that my life is in a good spot, you are correct. I'm a happy girl.
