View from the Cabin |
Arches Trail |
What is my Pied à Terre? The cabin my Grandmother owns in Hatch, Utah, where my family goes to about once every year. I miss it dearly. Now that we are getting a little closer to warmer weather my mind often drifts to the quaint place where the time seems to stand still. The place where were you to imagine it in your head, you'd be sitting on the porch overlooking a glorious view of red stained mountains and a small pond, holding in your hands a mug of delicious hot cocoa. This is the place where dreams were made of. This is where I've seen my first hummingbird, my first shooting star, had my first 4 wheelie driving lesson. This is also where my fear of cows grew, but that is another story and level of importance.
It's the place where you are allowed to stay up in the night surrounding the table with those closest to you, with an overhanging lantern that creates a soft and warm glow, playing pounce or just talking to your hearts content. This cabin with all of its small imperfections defines perfection! Others may see Hatch, and my lovely escape as dusty and boring and isolated. It may be all of those things and more but I wouldn't have it any other way. The isolation is what makes it practically perfect. Because once you're there, you wouldn't have a care in the world for responsibilities and internet, and the hustle and bustle of what is back home.
This cabin of my families is where I want to take my future husband, and children. I want them to have similar experiences that I had, I want them to see the beauty of the world that is only around 6 hours away. That you don't have to go far to see something incredible and amazing. To say that I miss this wonderful place is an understatement. My heart skips a beat as the car my family drives is driving down the small bumpy road to the cabin. I feel as if we need to create a name for this place of beauty, what it will be I have no idea.
Ponder about what your Pied à Terre is.
